Angkor Borei Stationery Project
Build a Better Cambodia
 

 

Background

In October 2004, a group of eight graduate and undergraduate students in Phnom Penh had a short visit to Angkor Borei, and met children living along the Angkor Borei River, of Angkor Borei district. Their communities were flooded every year as the area lays out in the lower land of Mekong Delta, and this condition has defined the children’s study period of only 6 month-long for an academic year (from January to June) while the general study period is 9 month-long per academic year.

Objectives

Support from project is a motivation to share love, care and support for the needed children with aims to:1). Bridge the gaps of rural and urban2). Impose the heart of volunteerism and solidarity in the name of human being3). Bring light of hope and direction for rural children through the their interaction with senior people, undergraduate and graduate students.4). Learn to care for the beloved human being through sharing of time and labors. 

Project Scale

The project helps raising fund and stationery to support four primary schools, consisting of about 500 children and 20 teachers. It runs two times per year: a) to distribute stationery at the beginning of school year (in January), b) to awarding to outstanding students at the end of school year (in July). Fund and stationery contributed by local and international donors are used to purchase supplies that are distributed to children of:
1). Kok Thlok Primary School
2). Prek Taphor Primary School
3). Tuol Putrea Primary School
4). Bak Dai Primary School

This is charity project for rural children of Cambodia!
